Since the excellent contribution from IBIS at last year’s biologist’s meeting, SFCC have been looking for ways in which SFCC members can attend IBIS training courses. Jennifer Dodd has been extremely helpful and has been working behind the Scenes to get a course for us. The last possible course that can be funded is the Field Survey Design course, previously delivered in N. Ireland.
This would be delivered in Scotland in March or April 2015, and for Jennifer/ IBIS to secure the course she needs a sufficient level of demand to be pre-registered. Full details of the course are provided below, and if you or any of your Trust staff are interested please register interest with me, and using the online form (link below). It is possible that a limited number of course places can be fully funded.
CPD course: Field Study Design
This course is designed for technicians, research assistants and field practitioners who have some experience of aquatic biology from academic study, field and laboratory work, or both. The aim of the course is to provide a refresher on the basics of study design that are pertinent to marine and freshwater biology. In particular, the course will focus on understanding how to make inferences about populations of aquatic animals through sampling.
