The OSMA licence lets public sector organisations access and share OS digital mapping. SFCC member organisations have been granted a contract to access OSMA as a result of SFCC’s close working relationship with Marine Scotland.
The OSMA Web Services allow members to connect to map data direct from their GIS software. This map data is kept up to date with the latest updates on a central server. The OSMA Web Mapping Services provide a way to access those frequently used and frequently updated background and reference maps without having to worry about data management. A connection is made through a web map service (WMS) or web map tile service (WMTS) directly from within your GIS software to a central database. The data reflects the most current updates, and can be accessed from anywhere that has a web connection. For more information about the project please visit the About page.
Users can connect to the data via a central web mapping server, utilizing either a web mapping (WMS) or a web map tile (WMTS) service. To find out more about the differences between the two and when you would use them, see the Definitions page.
A help website (similar to Wikipedia) has been set up for all OSMA members here: http://wms.locationcentre.co.uk/wiki/index.php?title=Special:UserLogin&returnto=Main+Page
SFCC members have all been provided with logins. A user guide is available here: http://wms.locationcentre.co.uk/wiki/index.php/User_Guide
