SFCC Background Aims The aims of the SFCC are to support its members in collecting, using and providing information on salmon and freshwater fish, their habitats and fisheries, in an effective and co-operative way. To these ends the SFCC provides a mechanism for local fisheries managers and biologists to standardise aspects of data collection and storage. Specialist software development is co-ordinated in a cost-effective way and members are supplied with spatial data relevant to the freshwater environment. The SFCC also provides a facility for balanced scientific analysis of available information and encourages informed discussion of fisheries issues for both local management and national policy decisions. Members The original members from fisheries organisations were the Awe (now Argyll) Fisheries Trust, Conon District Salmon Fishery Board, Lochaber and District Fisheries Trust, Spey Research Trust, Tay District Salmon Fishery Board, Tweed Foundation, West Galloway (now Galloway) Fisheries Trust, Western Isles Fisheries Trust, Wester Ross Fisheries Trust and West Sutherland Fisheries Trust. A number of other Boards and Trusts have joined the SFCC more recently and discussion continues with other potential members. The Early Years A review of the work of the SFCC from 1997 to 2003, and the SFCC Annual Report for 2004-2005, can be viewed and downloaded here. SFCC Review 1997-2003 SFCC Annual Report 2004-2005 |
